Installation, connection and change of CD and DVD drives.
By Javier R. Cinacchi (Translated by Ruth B. Vera Castro):
The optical disk drive, or similar, it's very easy to recognize. A rectangular component with a panel in which is the entrance to the CD or DVD. Usually only has a button to eject the tray where you place the CD, also a hole to unlock the tray, for example, using a needle if necessary. Once opened, should obviously take out the needle. This happens to some worn units that no longer work well. If there is no CD in it, this can lock the tray, and it's unlocked through that little hole. Note that this is the PC component that usually more get breaks.
It's usually secured to the cabinet with four screws or locks under pressure, according to the cabinet. His replacement is simple. It has a power cord and data. SATA (serial) is common, IDE (parallel) is old. If you need SATA adapters, those are sold for repairing old equipment.
In the picture above, has installed a DVD drive on a computer that has an old power supply, so standing an adapter. This drive is SATA ("serial"). In the new computers don't need any adapter.
In the picture below there are three almost identical units in an old computer. These internal devices often is see very similar. But in this case, is to show what were IDE ("parallel"). Copier / DVD player, CD and DVD (difference of size is primarily for being from different brands).
